Thailand#Bangkok#South islands

Ko Tao - Ko Samui - Ko Phaghan - Phuket - Ko Phi Phi - Ko Lanta - Hat Yai

Bangkok : yes again I am back haha but Bangkok has something special.
We had a really great coffee at Arom Dii Coffee near Ko san Road,if you feel have one, I advise you that one.

Regarding the islands, I have not a lot to say..the weather was bad most of the time so I couldn't really enjoy snorkeling or even lying on the beach..
So it will be more a reminder for me than to help people.
On all the islands,my advise is to rent a scooter to explore each island,be careful to the dust though.

Ko Tao :

You can find a lot of agencies all around Ko san road in Bangkok where you can book your ticket, mine was 1000 baht.

After few search online, the two Best beaches are Sai Nuan Beach and Ao Tanote.
You have two main places Mae haad Village( where the ferry is) and Sairee beach , where are the main activities and bars.
A cafe named " cappucino" was good in Mae Haad.
If you want to go to Sai Nuan Beach from Mae Haad,it will take about 30 minutes walking.
The sky was cloudy which made the snorkelling not good as it could be.

Tom got a little injury on his foot because of the rocks;,he tried to jump on a big one to take a picture...
Result : we caught a taxi on the way back as he couldn't walk...( 100 baht ! )

The taxis on all the islands are expensive compare to Bangkok.
I think we paid 100 baht each for 10 min driving to go to Sairee.
Rent a scooter is 150 baht and you can drive all around the island to see Mango view ( a must do,but be careful, the road is quiet tough ) and the different beaches.

We stayed in a nice place thanks to Katelyn for her birthday : Sairee hut resort : 2000 baht a night, right on the beach, with a nice pool.
For our last night, we found a cheap bungalow at Silver Sand , I think it costed 800 for 3 peoples..

There is a Lady boy cabaret, free entry but you have to buy a drink inside to be allowed to stay.
I really recommand it, it was really fun to see it, and believe me, some of this guys have a better body than a women !

There is also an all you can eat pizza for only 200 baht in Simple Life during few days in the week ( I didn't try it).

All around Sairee beach, you will find different bars where you can have fun with alcohol, balloons,Fire games etc.
I have met awesomes Belgium guys who are still my friends at this moment, we had such a funny time at one of the party.

Warning : Around 3 in the morning, I was with my friend swimming in the sea, Tom was sleeping next to our stuff on the beach;someone took our money ( just big notes) so please, don't leave your stuff at night..

You can also explore Nangyuan Island or pay for a private longtail trip for 2000 baht a day.
I don't advise you to take the day trip, friends of mine did it and it was not very good...

Ko Samui

I was surprised, after have heard a lot of bad things about Ko Samui , I liked it.
We stayed in Chaweng, the accomodation was around 600 baht for a double room ( the best rate; 400 baht was Saver Guest house : 30/4 Moo 3 chaweng beach)
There is a cinema if you're up to ( 100 baht) next to a Big C supermarket ( 5 min by scooter from Chaweng)
Btw, I was surprised to find a supermarket as in Europe, especially on an island ... lol and also a cinema and a bowling...

Result of a french girl who went to a supermarket in Asia :

You can rent a scooter as well,I think it was 200 baht for 24 hours...

You can also find cheap seafood , a big plate with lobster,shrimps,oysters... for 800 baht.
On the south of the island, we had a drink to have a break after all day riding... and our surprise was to see a monkey chained to a tree.
He was owned by the bar and this tiny monkey didn't want to leave Tom lol .. he was trying to find lices lol.

Things to do in Samui:

- Namuang waterfall was free and good, you can even swim in it.
There is a zoo next to it, I could touch a leopard for 300 baht.
You can do an elephant trekking ( I don't advise to do it, it is very sad and bad for elephants, more informations here : http://expertvagabond.com/elephants-in-thailand/)

- See the different area on the island, beaches, market..

- Walk around Chaweng, Festival shopping center...

- Get a Massage at FLOWER MASSAGE : 20 % for street animals ( 200 thai / 300 oil) => next to SAVER GUEST HOUSE ; 30/4 Moo 3 chaweng beach

- Go to Arc Bar

The Big Buddha is not very interesting for my opinion.

Ko Phaghan

Samui to Phaghan is only 300 baht.

HAAD RIN : where the full moon party is.

Full Moon parties: schedule : http://www.fullmoonpartykohphangan.com/schedule_dates/

Jungle Experience is also a Must do : one day before the full moon; 500 baht.

We stayed in Coral Bungalow.
It was a good accomodation with swimming pool and pool parties as well.

Haad Rin is full of bars, restaurants, but it is not the destination for the best beach.
One good and cheap restaurant : My friend in Haad Rin (https://foursquare.com/v/my-friend-restaurant-koh-phangan/4f013c22e300fdc04a2f7322)

After few search, the best beaches are : Koh Ma, Haad Mae Haad and Leela beach.
( Ko Ma)

Rent a scooter cost around 100 baht
Best restaurant I have ever eat in : DOLCE VITA .(51/11 Moo 8 | Chao Pao Beach, Ko Phangan 84280, Thailand)
Tom brought me there for Christmas, and it was my best Christmas for sure.
The italian food was delicious and the place was just amazing, straight on the beach ...
Then, we have been to the Full Moon party on the 25 th... and there was a storm lol! our buckets were filled up with water in only 2 min ...

Phangan to Phuket : 700 baht
Took ages to arrive ...
We found a hostel for 12 euros a night in Grid Race in Patong area.
Even if the main street of patong included a lot of girls bars, we found good spots for live music.

We have been to Kata Beach which was very nice.

Food : 80 baht minimum
Rain again and again so we have been to the cinema...

Phi Phi Island:

My favourite island... my NYE was just awesome there !
amazing landscapes, good bars...

Phuket to Phi Phi : 350 baht
Se stayed in Coco's guesthouse, I booked 2 months before,I was afraid that everything will be sold out.
Then we found a better rate : 600 baht a night , just next to it with even a pool !

Thing to see/ to do :

- View point

- Day trip around islands ( 450 baht) : monkey island, shark bay, " the beach" ...

- Long beach

- see a Muay thai fight for free in the Reggea Bar

- BBQ all you can eat for 369 baht.

- A tattoo ?! 2000 baht for a sentence ... 3 time cheaper than in France

Ko Lanta

Ko Lanta is the wildest island.
No bars along the beach, just families in holidays.
You can find some monkeys on the road as the jungle is just behind.

There is a nice view point on the way to Old Town.

The backpackers area is on long beach, but we haven't been there; you can find cheap bungalow for 500.

We stayed in Angela Bungalows for 800 baht.
We got screw up by a guy on the boat who " booked " for us a bungalow for 500.
He just wanted to have his commision for the taxi as when we get there there was no booking at all...

So lanta,is an island to chill, nothing special to do except go for a walk with a dog at Animal Welfare if you want help them;go to Ko Rok Nok if you have the budget for it ( 1800 baht).

Ko Lanta to Malaysia :

Ha... you can have an headache with that...
Ko Lanta - Hat yai : 500 baht - 6 hours
Hat yai - Penang : 400 baht - 4 hours

You also can go to Langkawi but it will cost you 2000 baht ( from Ko Lanta)

Hat Yai

City .. nothing special there, except that we stayed in a horrible place which looked like a hospital ... 290 baht cathay guesthouse.

The best thing is we have to stop there, is to walk around the city and then go to Central Festival where you will find a lot of shopping to do and a cinema ( 100 baht).
