Open Bus pass : HCMC to Hanoi with few stops between : 945 000 D.
The cheapest that we have seen was on 209 Pham Ngu Lao.
Ho Chi Minh City ( or Saigon)
Cheap guesthouses in the Backpackers area : Pham Ngu Lao , especially in the alley 241.
Ours was YNHI $12 with A/C ( 241/30 alley 241)
2 millions de scooter in Ho chi minh .... uuu .... yep it is dangerous to cross over the street... be careful at your bag as well.
Things to see in HCMC :
Unfortunately nothing is very interesting there except the War Museum ( 15000) ( 28 Võ Văn Tần phường 6, Quận 3).
On the main street ( Vo Van Tan), we discovered a good shop for leather shoes at a really good price : it is better for men than women.
Bars on Bui Vien street ( red line) and Hair of the dog was pretty fun.
Street food : 30 000 D for a meal
ABC Bakery : I spent every morning there, you can have a pastry from 15 000 D and it was very good; Wi fi, you can Plug In your computer as well.
Mui Ne is actually lovely for a day, not much , except if you know how do Kit Surf.
The beach is actually a nautical sports area.
You will find few nice cafe, restaurant.
I hearded about " Chillout cafe " but it was close when we have been there.
A nice burgers in : Hills smoked restaurant".

We took the bus to Nha Trang at 12pm the next day.

To get to the " amusement island" it will cost you 600 000 D.
We didn't do it as we weren't interest by it and to be honest, I prefer spend this money in something more interesting than just a park.
At this moment I am in a cafe " iced coffee " , somewhere chill where you can grab a good coffee for 40 000 and plug your laptop.
I think I am here for 3 hours now lol ....
Hotel : $ 7.5 a night : Thu Hien Hotel, 2 km fromt the " center " , 100 m from the beach.
The best city of vietnam so far for the moment.
Hoi An is a very charming town.
What to do there ? Chill in different cafe,I used to go often to Cargo with a beautiful view on the river.
Take a bicycle and go to see the beach and the little village next to it.
The contact with the Vietnamese population is the best that we have ever had since we arrived in South East Asia or even in my life.
They are kind, smiling, respectful, they will not push you too much to buy stuff or try to scam you.
Hoi An is specialize in Hand Made Leather on measure ( Shoes,Bag,jackets... ); you can find a tone of shops there.
One shop is different than others though : Friendly : they will warranty their products for 6 month back home and if you don't like the product, you don't have to pay for it.
Party in Hoi An ? none ... a " backpacker bar " that close at midnight.
We stayed in " Vip Garden Homestay" for $15 a night and then in another one for quiet the same price.
Hum... To be honest if you want to go directly to Hanoi from Hoi An,you will miss nothing.
Hue is a little town, nothing special to see unfortunately.
The Palace " must see " cost 105 000 D per person which is overpriced.
So, we haven't been there, just walk around.
Nice cafe " la boulangerie francaise".
Our hostel : $8 a night " Kim's guesthouse",friendly staff and clean.
We stayed 6 nights in total in Hanoi
Halong Bay : 2 nights 3 days
We paid $70 but you can get it for $62 apparently.
Don't pay any VAT.
First day : we arrived around 12 on the pier, then we visited a cave and went around all islands with the boat.
Slept the first night on CAT BA island.
Day 2 : trek in the national park on Cat Ba island, free time where we get a massage and a coffee.
Slept on the boat.

Sapa : $ 55 for 3 nights 2 days.
The weather was very bad and cold so we chose to stay in Hanoi.

Taxi is freaking expensive there, 100 000 for 15 min.
Our hotel for $12 a night was great ( The Sinh Cafe Travel : 12 b Hang Manh, Hoan Kiem Dist)
Hanoi , What to see , What to do ?
